In all cases of damage, do not  reuse the poly-V-belt.

Replace the poly-V-belt and the components causing the damage subject to separate repair order.

Consequential damage can otherwise occur.

Flanks of the poly-V belts worn 

The poly-V-belts show signs of wear or they are pointed instead of trapezoidal. Look out for non-aligned and damaged belt pulleys.

Tensile cord (brighter points) visible in base of poly-V belt 

The backing of the belt is damaged 

The surface layer exhibits transverse or longitudinal cracks.

Poly-V belt detached from poly-V belt base 

Fraying of outer cords 

Pay attention to belt pulleys and guide pulleys.

Cord torn out at the side 

Pay attention to belt pulleys and guide pulleys.

Transverse cracks in several poly-V 

Chippings on poly-V belt 

Individual transverse cracks in the poly-V belt 

Dirt or stones embedded in ribs 

Pay attention to belt pulleys and guide pulleys.

Heavy wear and deposits and lumps of rubber in base of rib 

Swelling through contact with engine oil, coolant, cold cleaning solvent etc. 

Increase in belt width 0.7 mm (0.03 inches). Look out for leaks in the major assemblies.
