Electric Parking Brake Control Unit, Component Description - GF42.20-P-5005GN
MODEL 166 as of model year 2016
MODEL 292
Shown on model 292
Location
The electric parking brake control unit is located below the rear bench seat on the right side.
Tasks
The electric parking brake control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1)
Direct line
The status of the electric parking brake switch (S76/15) is read in directly.
Chassis CAN 1
The following information is read in over chassis CAN 1:
- Status circuit 15 ON, from the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73)
- Status of driver seat belt buckle restraint system switch (S68/3), from the supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10)
- Status of liftgate rotary tumbler switch (M14/7s1) from the rear SAM control unit (N10/8), via the interior CAN (CAN B) and the electronic ignition lock control unit
- Status of left front door first detent microswitch (A85s1), from left front door control unit (N69/1), via interior CAN to electronic ignition lock control unit
- Currently engaged gear range from the fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4), via the drive train CAN (CAN C) and ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) or the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine)
- Status of drive train (operational), engine (running) and accelerator pedal (position) from the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (with gasoline engine) or from the CDI control unit (with diesel engine)
- Wheel speeds to determine the vehicle speed, from the electronic stability program control unit (N30/4)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN 1
Direct line
The following components are actuated via a direct line:
- Left electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/1)
- Right electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/2)
Chassis CAN 1
The following components are actuated via chassis CAN 1:
- Instrument cluster (A1) (output of messages and warnings), via the electronic ignition lock control unit and chassis CAN 2
- Electronic Stability Program control unit (initiation of emergency braking)
