Location
The adaptive damping system control unit is located beneath the left front seat.
Tasks
The adaptive damping system control unit does the following:
- Reading in of signals
- Actuation of components
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Suspension FlexRay (Flex E)
Direct line
The signals from the following components are read via a direct line:
- Left rear level sensor (B22/7)
- Left front level sensor (B22/8)
- Right front level sensor (B22/9)
- Right rear level sensor (B22/10)
- Left front body acceleration sensor (B24/3)
- Right front body acceleration sensor (B24/4)
- Left rear body acceleration sensor (B24/5)
Chassis FlexRay
The adaptive damping system control unit is a subscriber of the chassis FlexRay and receives signals from the following control units:
- Instrument cluster (A1), over the user interface CAN (CAN HMI) with the electronic ignition lock control unit interface (N73)
- CDI control unit (with diesel engine) or ME-SFI [ME] control unit (with gasoline engine), over the engine CAN (CAN C) with drivetrain control unit interface (N127)
- Left lower control panel (N72/4), over LCP-LIN, Audio/COMAND control panel, telematics CAN, head unit, user interface CAN and the electronic ignition lock control unit
- Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4)
- Fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4), via drive train CAN (CAN C1) with the drivetrain control unit interface
- Steering column tube module control unit (N80)
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis FlexRay
Direct line
The following components are actuated via a direct line:
- Left front axle damping valve unit (Y51)
- Right front axle damping valve unit (Y52)
- Left rear axle damping valve unit (Y53)
- Right rear axle damping valve unit (Y54)
Chassis FlexRay
The following components are actuated via chassis FlexRay:
- Instrument cluster, via electronic ignition lock control unit and user interface CAN
