1. Remove red line (6) and black line (7) from fuse box on A-pillar at right (F1/3).
2. Remove black fuse holder (14) together with other fuse holders from fuse box on A-pillar at right (F1/3).

3. Remove blue 6-pin connector (8) from black fuse holder (14).

   The slot for the blue 6-pin connector (8) in the black fuse holder (14) is marked with MF2  .

4. Install contact spring (2) of red line (RD) of the fabricated wiring harness (1), into contact cavity 5 of the blue, 6-pin connector (8).
5. Connect round cable lug (3) of brown line (BN) to additional battery ground point (W15/17) in front passenger footwell .

6. Install blue 6-pin connector (8) into black fuse holder (14).

   The slot for the blue 6-pin connector (8) in the black fuse holder (14) is marked with MF2  .

7. Install black fuse holder (14) together with other fuse holders into fuse box on A-pillar at right (F1/3).

   Ensure correct seating and proper engagement of fuse holders in right A-pillar fuse box (F1/3).

   Otherwise, the fuses may work themselves loose and connected systems may then malfunction.

8. Connect red line (6) and black line (7) to right A-pillar fuse box (F1/3) .

9. Route wiring harness (1) along the vehicle wiring harnesses below the device installation frame of the audio component up to the center console.

   Ensure wiring harness is routed correctly and free of chafing points.

   Otherwise, the wiring harness (1) may be damaged.

10. Fasten wiring harness (1) using cable ties (arrows) onto vehicle wiring harness and fix in place using felt tape (f) in area of transmission tunnel.

    The following operation steps 11 to 15 are only valid for model 253.3 with blue connector on multimedia connection unit.

11. Remove black 8-pin connector (9) from blue carrier element (10).
12. Connect the brown line (BN) in the black 8-pin connector (9) to the wiring harness repair kit or the wiring harness repair kit supplement for passenger cars.

    Insulate removed brown line (BN) and strap down.

13. Install contact spring (5) of brown line (BN) for prepared wiring harness (1) into contact cavity 6 of black 8-pin connector (9).
14. Install contact spring (4) of red line (RD) for prepared wiring harness (1) into contact cavity 5 of black 8-pin connector (9).
15. Install black 8-pin connector (9) into blue carrier element (10) again.

    The blue carrier element (10) is connected to the multimedia connection unit at a later point.

    The next steps 16 and 17 only apply for model 253.3 with white 6-pin coupling to multimedia connection unit.

16. Install contact spring of brown line (BN) into white 6-pin connector (20).

    The contact cavities of white 6-pin connector (20) are not labeled, install brown line (BN) as shown.

17. Install contact spring of red line (rt) into white 6-pin connector (20).

    The contact cavities of the white 6-pin connector (20) are not labeled, install red line (RD) as shown.

    The white 6-pin connector (20) is connected to the multimedia connection unit at a later point.
