A distinction is made between the following procedures:
- Speaker output in vehicles except code 810 (Sound system), and except code 853 ("Midline" sound system)
- Speaker output in vehicles with code 853 ("Midline" sound system)
- Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system)

With telematics services with a voice connection (e. g. emergency call), the center instrument panel speaker is used for voice output and actuated via direct lines by the HERMES control unit. This is not taken into consideration in the following.
Speaker output in vehicles except code 810 (Sound system), and except code 853 ("Midline" sound system)
The head unit outputs the audio signals via the following speakers:
- Left footwell woofer (right-hand drive vehicles)
- Right footwell woofer (left-hand drive vehicles)
- Left front door midrange speaker
- Right front door midrange speaker
- Left rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
- Right rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
Speaker output in vehicles with code 853 ("Midline" sound system)
The head unit outputs the audio signals via the following speakers:
- Center instrument panel speaker
- Left front door midrange speaker
- Right front door midrange speaker
- Left rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
- Right rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
The head unit actuates the following speakers via the subwoofer amplifier:
- Left footwell woofer
- Right footwell woofer
Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system)
The audio signals are forwarded by the head unit over MOST to the sound system amplifier control unit where they are finally amplified and output at the following speakers through direct lines:
- Center instrument panel speaker
- Left footwell woofer
- Right footwell woofer
- Left rear surround sound system midrange speaker
- Right rear surround sound system midrange speaker
- Left front door tweeter
- Right front door tweeter
- Left rear door/side paneling tweeter
- Right rear door/side paneling tweeter
- Left front door midrange speaker
- Right front door midrange speaker
- Left rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
- Right rear door/side paneling midrange speaker
