Location

The left headlamp control unit is located on the left front lamp unit and the right headlamp control unit is located on the right front lamp unit.

The headlamp control units are tightly screwed to the housing of the respective front lamp units. The headlamp control units are connected to the wiring harness on the vehicle side via the respective front lamp unit.

Tasks

The headlamp control units work in a master/slave combination and communicate with each other via the peripherals CAN (CAN PER). As the master, the left headlamp control unit synchronizes the right headlamp control unit.

The headlamp control units have the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors and signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line (headlamp-internal)

The left headlamp control unit reads in the signals of the following components via direct lines:

The right headlamp control unit reads in the signals of the following components via direct lines:

LIN (headlamp-internal) (with CODE 640 (High-performance LED), or code 641 (Dynamic left-hand traffic LED headlamp), or code 642 (Dynamic right-hand traffic LED headlamp))

The left headlamp control unit reads in the diagnostic data from the left front actuation module, LED exterior lighting (E1n7) via the left headlamp LIN (LIN G1).

The right headlamp control unit reads in the diagnostic data from the right front actuation module, LED exterior lighting (E2n7) via the right headlamp LIN (LIN G2).

Peripherals CAN

The signals are read in by the headlamp control units via the periphery CAN.

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Controlling functions

The following functions are realized by actuating the appropriate components:

Actuation of components

The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:

Direct line (headlamp-internal)

The following components are actuated by the left headlamp control unit via direct lines:

With CODE 631 (Static left-hand traffic LED headlamp), or code 632 (Static right-hand traffic LED headlamp):

With CODE 640 (High-performance LED), or code 641 (Dynamic left-hand traffic LED headlamp), or code 642 (Dynamic right-hand traffic LED headlamp):

The following components are actuated by the right headlamp control unit via direct lines:

With CODE 631 (Static left-hand traffic LED headlamp), or code 632 (Static right-hand traffic LED headlamp):

With CODE 640 (High-performance LED), or code 641 (Dynamic left-hand traffic LED headlamp), or code 642 (Dynamic right-hand traffic LED headlamp):

LIN (with CODE 640 (High-performance LED), or code 641 (Dynamic left-hand traffic LED headlamp), or code 642 (Dynamic right-hand traffic LED headlamp))

The left headlamp control unit communicates via the left headlamp LIN with the left front actuation module, LED exterior lighting.

The right headlamp control unit communicates via the right headlamp LIN with the right front actuation module, LED exterior lighting.

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
