TV Mode, Basic Function - GF82.60-P-9904A
Model all (CAR)
with code 865 (digital TV)
General
TV mode receives TV signals transmitted as electromagnetic waves and converts these into video and audio signals. Video signals are output via the media display. The audio signals are output over the speaker system. TV mode is operated via the multimedia system's display and control elements.
Function requirement
- No smartphone connected via smartphone integration (e.g. Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto)
- Vehicle speed below 6 km/h
TV mode function
The vehicle receives the TV signals as electromagnetic waves via the antennas. An antenna amplifier amplifies the signals and transmits these to multimedia system control. Multimedia system control converts the signals into video and audio signals by means of an integrated TV tuner. The speaker system outputs these audio signals via the speaker. The multimedia system outputs the video signals via the media display.
Depending on the equipment installed, the following TV standards can be received and processed:
- DVB-T1/DVB-T2 (H.264/H.265/HEVC) (Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial)
(Not for vehicles with code 498 (Japan version), or code 835 (Additional parts for South Korea vehicles))
- ISDB-T (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial)
(For vehicles with code 498 (Japan version))
- HD-DMB/DMB (digital media broadcast)
(For vehicles with code 835 (Additional parts for South Korea vehicles))
Special features of DVB-T/DTV-T2
The TV tuner integrated into multimedia system control supports the following video compression standards:
- MPEG-2
- MPEG-4 AVC (H.264)
- MPEG-H (H.265)
It is possible to receive encrypted programs using a Common Interface Plus CI+ module. On vehicles without code 498 (Japan version), a CI+ card reader is also installed.
The CI+ card reader for the CI+ module is located in the glove compartment. With a valid CI+ module, fee-based, high-resolution, encrypted TV programs can also be received.
The TV tuner supports video text with Latin ASCII character sets (so currently, for example, no Greek or Cyrillic character sets).
Special features of ISDB-T
The TV tuner integrated into the multimedia system control supports video text via Broadcast Markup Language (BML), and the electronic program view (Electronic Program Guide (EPG)).
The following ISDB-T sub-standards are supported:
- "one-segment" (1seg) (low-resolution signal for mobile reception at low bandwidth)
- "full-segment" (high-resolution signal for reception at high bandwidth)
Special features of HD-DMB
The TV tuner integrated into multimedia system control supports high definition television. A device-specific CAS ID can be displayed in the media display. Using this CAS ID, fee-based additional services can be enabled by the program provider.
