Function requirements, general

Speaker output, general

A distinction is made between the following procedures:

IMPORTANT This service information does not describe speaker actuation with telematics services with a voice connection (e.g. emergency call).

Speaker output in vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system)

The audio signals are routed from the head unit or the tuner unit (with code 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), code 537 (Digital radio (DAB)), or code 865 (TV tuner)) via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit, where they undergo final amplification and are output by means of direct lines via the following speakers:

During actuation of the speaker system, the volume is adapted to the noise level in the vehicle interior. To do so, the sound system amplifier control unit receives a vehicle speed signal via the head unit.

IMPORTANT Model 205

up to model year 2019

with code B63 (Sporty engine sound)

Model 253 (except 253.99)

up to model year 2020

with code B63 (Sporty engine sound)

The sound system amplifier control unit receives synthesized sound signals from the engine sound control unit.

IMPORTANT Model 205

up to model year 2019

with code 348 (Emergency call/assistant system)

Model 205

up to model year 2019

with code 350 (eCall emergency call system, Europe)

Model 253 (except 253.99)

up to model year 2020

with code 348 (Emergency call/assistant system)

Model 253 (except 253.99)

up to model year 2020

with code 350 (eCall emergency call system, Europe)

The center instrument panel speaker is used for voice output with telematics services with a voice connection (e.g. emergency call), and is actuated by the emergency call system control unit (N123/4), or the telematics services communications module (N112/1) depending on the equipment.

IMPORTANT Model 205

up to model year 2019

with code 360 (HERMES UMTS)

Model 205

up to model year 2019

with code 362 (HERMES LTE)

Model 253 (except 253.99)

up to model year 2020

with code 360 (HERMES UMTS)

Model 253 (except 253.99)

up to model year 2020

with code 362 (HERMES LTE)

For telematics services with a voice connection (e.g. emergency call), the center instrument panel speaker is used for voice output and actuated via direct lines by the HERMES control unit (N112/9).

Speaker output in vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system)

The audio signals are output by the head unit via direct lines over the following speakers:

Speaker output in vehicles with code B63 (Sporty engine sound), and except code 810 (Sound system)

The head unit transmits the processed audio signals via direct lines to the engine sound control unit.

The audio signals are output by the engine sound control unit by means of direct lines via the following speakers:
