Location
The mobile phone cradle control unit is located at the front under the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) in the stowage compartment.
Tasks
The mobile phone cradle control unit is responsible for the following:
- Reception of switch-in signal from head unit (A26/17) (Input)
- Near-field communication (NFC) with the mobile phone through the NFC interface of the mobile phone cradle control unit (for login (initialization) of the mobile phone on the head unit)
- Near Field Communication with the mobile phone via the Near Field Communication antenna (A2/156) (model 205) (for login (initialization) of the mobile phone in the head unit)
- Vehicles with code 896 (Vehicle access and drive authorization via mobile phone)
Communication for drive authorization via a capacitive coupling with the mobile phone and via the telematics CAN (CAN A) with the head unit.
- Vehicles with code 897 (Wireless mobile phone charging)
Wireless charging of the mobile phone (Qi standard).
- Vehicles with code 899 (Multifunction telephony)
The mobile phone cradle control unit connects the mobile phone via the cellular telephone system antenna amplifier/compensator (A28/15), and the telephone antenna splitter (A2/109) to the left telephone antenna (A2/102), and the right telephone antenna (A2/103). The data exchange between mobile phone cradle control unit and the mobile phone takes place over a capacitive coupling. The mobile phone is charged wirelessly (Qi standard).
- Communication via the telematics CAN with the head unit, e.g.:
- Reception of charging requirements
- Transmission of charging process status
- Communication to log into the mobile phone on the head unit (initialization)
- Communication for drive authorization with the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) over the head unit as a gateway (with code 896 (Vehicle access and drive authorization through the mobile phone))
Structure
The mobile phone cradle control unit is equipped with an NFC interface for wireless data exchange and an antenna for capacitive communication. An induction loop is installed that enables wireless electrical charging of the smartphone battery.
