Remove/install rear door module - AR72.12-P-0103NKB

DANGER Risk of injury  during testing and repair operations related to pyrotechnical components Do not expose pyrotechnical components to temperatures above 100 °C or 212 °F. Disconnect current supply when working on such components. AS91.00-Z-0008-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  from contusions to hands if window glass is not secured Secure window to prevent it from falling down. AS67.00-Z-0002-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Loosen crank window (2) from power window, completely push upward and secure against falling down with suitable adhesive tape (3) MODEL 156, 176 AR72.12-P-1910NKA 
MODEL 242, 246 AR72.12-P-1910NKB
2 Disconnect battery ground line   AR54.10-P-0003NKB
3 Remove outside door handle    
4 Take off gaskets (4)    
5 Loosen bolts (5), push bearing bracket (6) toward front and unhook    
6 Disconnect left rear door electrical connector (X35/3) and right rear door electrical connector (X35/4 and lay door wiring harness (7) toward inside into rear door (8)    
7 Unclip grommet (9) and pull door wiring harness (7) out of rear door (8)    
8 Remove bolts (10) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, lock to rear door *BA72.12-P-1005-01H 
9 Remove bolt (12.1) MODEL 242, 246  
10 Drill out rivet head from rivet (12.2) MODEL 156, 176  
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 02 39 00 Rivet press tool   WS60.00-P-0010B
    IMPORTANT Use 7 mm dia. bit.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Fasten door module (1) with rivet (12.2) to front door (8).
 
11 Remove screw/bolt (13) MODEL 242, 246  
12 Drill off heads of rivets (11)    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 02 39 00 Rivet press tool   WS60.00-P-0010B
    IMPORTANT Use 7 mm dia. bit.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Fasten door module (1) with rivets (11) to rear door (8).
 
13 Detach door module (1) from rear door (8) and remove SPECIAL TOOL Mounting wedge Figure
14 Drill out rivet residues (14) MODEL 156
IMPORTANT Not accessible with knock-out tool.
IMPORTANT Use 7 mm dia. bit.
 
15 Press out any pieces of rivets remaining in the inner door panel NOTES
When pressing out upper rivet residues, observe crank window (2).
Contact between knock-out tool and crank window (2) can lead to destruction of the crank window (2).

16 Completely remove rivet residues and drilling chips from rear door (8) NOTES
Completely remove rivet residues with wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
Remaining rivet residues cause corrosion damage on rear door (8).
 
17 Install in the reverse order
