	Remove/install
1	Fold up center armrest
2	Unclip rear center console cover (1) and lift until electrical connectors (3, 16) are exposed	Clip remover	Figure
3	Disconnect electrical connection (16)	MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 with CODE U62 (Exterior light and sight package)
4	Disconnect electrical connector (3) and remove rear center console cover (1)
5	Remove audio/COMAND control panel	When replacing rear center console cover (1).

6	Unclip shift gate cover (4) from front center console cover (2)	MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 with TRANSMISSION 711 On MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 with TRANSMISSION 724 a stowage compartment is installed in the area of the shiftgate cover (4).

9	Guide shift gate cover (4) through front center console cover (2)	MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 with TRANSMISSION 711 Carefully guide shift gate cover (4) along catch hook on front center console cover (2). Otherwise damage may occur.
10	Unlock electrical connectors (13) on DSI module (19), disconnect	MODEL 176.052
11	Unlock and disconnect electrical connectors (5); remove front center console cover (2)	Up to three electrical connectors (5) can be connected to the automatic air conditioning control and operating unit (N22/7).
12	Unscrew bolts (14) and remove DSI module assembly frame (20)	MODEL 176.052 When replacing front center console cover (2).
13	Press spring clips (15 out of front center console cover (2) and remove trim frame (18)	MODEL 176.052 When replacing front center console cover (2).
14	Unlock automatic air conditioning control and operating unit (N22/7) on catch hook (7) and remove	When replacing front center console cover (2). Ensure that catch hook is seated correctly.
15	Remove storage compartment	MODEL 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 with TRANSMISSION 724 When replacing front center console cover (2). The stowage compartment is fastened to the front center console cover (2) with two bolts.
16	Unscrew bolts (8) and remove ashtray or stowage compartment (9)	When replacing front center console cover (2).
17	Completely move both front seat toward front
18	Unclip rear center console cover (10) and lift until electrical connector (11) is exposed	Clip remover	Figure
19	Disconnect electrical connector (11) and remove rear center console paneling (10)
20	Open ashtray housing or stowage compartment (12), unlock and remove	When replacing rear center console paneling (10).
21	Install in the reverse order
