	Opening, closing
1	Unlock engine hood	Pull release lever (1) on left below dashboard. The engine hood opens to stop of retaining hook (2).
2	Open engine hood	Slightly lift engine hood, actuate safety hook (2) and open engine hood. Windshield wiper arm should not be folded toward front.
3	Unhook gas-filled spring strut (4)	Except model 461.331 Press retaining clip (3) back on gas-filled spring strut (4) with screwdriver and thereby press gas-filled spring strut (4) off of ball head Thereby hold engine hood.
4	Move engine hood to upright position	Install suitable coverings to prevent damaging the engine hood or the body.
5	Reinstall in opposite order
