Spray Nozzle And Spray Nozzle Hose Heater, Function - GF82.35-P-3007GW

Function requirements, general 

Spray nozzle heater, general 

The left spray nozzle heater (R2/2) and the right spray nozzle heater (R2/3) prevents the washer fluid in the spray nozzles from freezing.

Function sequence for spray nozzle heater 

The front SAM control unit (as of 03.04.2018, except model 463.342), or the SAM control unit (up to 02.04.2018 or model 463.342) switches on the spray nozzle heater at an outside temperature of T < 5°C.

The outside temperature is detected by the outside temperature sensor (B14). The front SAM control unit (as of 03.04.2018, except model 463.342), or the SAM control unit (up to 02.04.2018 or model 463.342) reads in the outside temperature sensor signal directly, calculates the actual outside temperature and sends this as of 03.04.2018 except model 463.342 over the interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and the user interface CAN (CAN HMI) or up to 02.04.2018 or for model 463.342 directly over the interior CAN to the instrument cluster (A1). The instrument cluster calculates the displayed outside temperature, taking the vehicle speed as well as the heat dissipated from the engine into consideration and, as of 03.04.2018 and except model 463.342, it sends this over the user interface CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and interior CAN or up to 02.04.2018 or for model 463.342 directly over the interior CAN to the front SAM control unit (as of 03.04.2018, except model 463.342) or the SAM control unit (up to 02.04.2018 or model 463.342).

The heat given off by the engine is derived from the coolant temperature. The CDI control unit or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit calculates the coolant temperature.

As of 03.04.2018 and except model 463.342 the CDI control unit or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit sends the corresponding value over the drive train CAN, drivetrain control unit, suspension FlexRay, electronic ignition lock control unit and the interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

Up to 02.04.2018 or for model 463.342, the CDI control unit (engine 642) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (engine 157, 273) sends the corresponding value over the suspension CAN 1, electronic ignition lock control unit and the interior CAN to the SAM control unit.

With engine 176 the ME-SFI [ME] control unit up to 02.04.2018 sends the corresponding value over the drive train CAN, drivetrain control unit, suspension CAN 1, electronic ignition lock control unit and the interior CAN to the SAM control unit.

The front SAM control unit (as of 03.04.2018, except model 463.342) or the SAM control unit (up to 02.04.2018 or model 463.342) evaluates all the relevant data and actuates the spray nozzle heater accordingly.

If the outside temperature increases to T > 8°C, the spray nozzle heater is switched off.

IMPORTANT If the front SAM control unit (as of 03.04.2018, except model 463.342) or the SAM control unit (up to 02.04.2018 or model 463.342) cannot receive an outside temperature value from the instrument cluster, it calculates the outside temperature using the signals from the outside temperature sensor.
