Fold Left/Right Outside Mirror, Function - GF88.79-P-2002GW
Model 463 (except 463.342)
as of model year 2013
Function requirements, general
- No overvoltage or undervoltage
Left/right folding outside mirror, general
The left outside mirror (M211) and right outside mirror (M212) can be folded in and out electrically. This can be done both automatically and manually. The left front door control unit (N69/1) has the master function during adjustment and forwards the necessary signals via interior CAN (CAN B) to the right front door control unit (N69/2). If a new adjustment request is recognized while adjustment is in progress, the adjustment is directly switched to the opposite direction.
The left/right outside mirror comprises the following partial functions:
- Manual fold-in-/out
- Automatic folding in/out
Manual fold-in-/out
The manual folding in/out function comprises the following subfunctions:
- Manual fold in
- Manual fold out
Additional function requirements for manually folding in
- Outside mirror folded out
- Circuit 15R ON
- Vehicle speed < 47 km/h
Model 463 (except 463.342)
as of model year 2019
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the circuit 15 status via the interior CAN to the left front door control unit and the instrument cluster (A1) transmits the vehicle speed via the user interface CAN (CAN HMI), electronic ignition lock control unit and interior CAN to the left front door control unit.
Model 463 (except 463.342)
as of model year 2013 up to model year 2019
The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the circuit 15 status and the instrument cluster transmits the vehicle speed via the interior CAN to the left front door control unit.
Manual fold in
By actuating the outside mirror fold-in/out switch (S20s9) both outside mirrors can be folded to the garage position.
The left front door control unit reads in the adjustment request via left door LIN (LIN B5) and transmits it to the right front door control unit via interior CAN. The left door control unit actuates the outside mirror fold-in/out electric motor (M211m3) in the left outside mirror. The right door control unit actuates the outside mirror fold-in/out electric motor (M212m3) in the right outside mirror. The actuation duration is 5 s.
Additional function requirements for manually folding out
- Outside mirror folded in
- Circuit 15R ON
The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 to left front door control unit via the interior CAN.
Manual fold out
The mirror housing can be moved to the driving position by actuating the outside mirror fold-in/fold-out switch.
The left front door control unit reads in the adjustment request via left front door LIN and transmits it to the right front door control unit via interior CAN. The left front door control unit actuates the outside mirror fold-in/out electric motor in the left outside mirror. The right front door control unit actuates the outside mirror fold-in/out electric motor in the right outside mirror. The actuation duration is 5 s.
Additional function requirements for automatic folding in/out
- As of 03.04.2018: Function activated in head unit (A26/17)
- Up to 02.04.2018: Function activated in instrument cluster
Model 463 (except 463.342)
as of model year 2019
The head unit transmits the function status via the user interface CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and interior CAN to the left front door control unit.
Model 463 (except 463.342)
as of model year 2013 up to model year 2019
The instrument cluster sends the status of the function over interior CAN to the left front door control unit.
Automatic folding in/out
The automatic folding in/out function comprises the following subfunctions:
- Automatic fold in
- Automatic fold out
Additional function requirements for automatic folding in
- Circuit 15C OFF
- Outside mirror folded out
The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 to left front door control unit via the interior CAN.
Automatic fold in
When the vehicle is locked with the central locking both outside mirrors are folded in automatically (garage position).
The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of the central locking to the left door control unit via the interior CAN. The left front door control unit transmits the request "Fold in right outside mirror" to the right front door control unit via the interior CAN and actuates the outside mirror fold in/out electric motor in the left outside mirror. The right front door control unit actuates the outside mirror fold-in/out electric motor in the right outside mirror. The actuation duration is 5 s.
Additional function requirements for automatic folding out
- Outside mirror folded in
- Central locking LOCKED
The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of the central locking to the left door control unit via the interior CAN.
Automatic fold out
When the vehicle is unlocked via the CL and then the driver door opened, both outside mirrors are folded out automatically to the driving position.
The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of the central locking to the left door control unit via the interior CAN. The opening of the driver's door is detected in vehicles up to 02.04.2018 by the left front door rotary tumbler switch (A85s1) of the left front door lock (A85). The left front door control unit reads in the status of the door lock and transmits this via the interior CAN to the right front door control unit.
The left front door control unit actuates the outside mirror fold-in/out electric motor in the left outside mirror.
The right front door control unit actuates the outside mirror fold-in/out electric motor in the right outside mirror. The actuation duration is 5 s.
When the outside mirrors are still folded in with circuit 15R on, they are folded out immediately.
To ensure that the outside mirrors are really folded out, the outside mirror fold-in/out electric motors are reactuated when a speed of v = 47 km/h is exceeded for 1 s.
