Shown on Model 463

The following components integrated into the instrument cluster up to production date April 2nd, 2018 or for Model 463.342 are not shown:

IMPORTANT Model 463

as of Model year 2019

with code J25 (Widescreen cockpit)

The symbols available on the analog display as indicator and warning lamps are shown accordingly on the digital full display.

IMPORTANT On vehicles as of production date September 1st, 2015, the dials for the coolant temperature gauge, fuel level indicator, tachometer and speedometer in the instrument cluster have a new design.

IMPORTANT Model 463.342 as of Model year 2013

The speedometer display only goes up to 160 km/h.

Location

The instrument cluster is located in the dashboard on the driver-side.

Tasks

The instrument cluster has the following tasks:

IMPORTANT The brightness is automatically adjusted to suit the lighting conditions in the vehicle interior compartment by a phototransistor integrated in the instrument cluster. The brightness can also be personalized by actuating the brightness control instrument illumination (A1r1). The instrument illumination brightness control is located at the left, below the instrument cluster.

Reading in of sensors and signals

The instrument cluster reads in the input factors via the following connections:

Interior CAN

The signals are read in by the instrument cluster over the interior CAN.

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).

Chassis CAN 2

The signals are read in by the instrument cluster via chassis CAN 2.

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Actuation of components

The instrument cluster directly actuates all internal actuators and consumers (e.g. indicator and warning lamps, stepper motors of displays, multifunction display) as well as the instrument illumination.

Output of warning tones and indicator tones

To issue warning and indicator tones which are requested by the systems installed in the vehicle, the instrument cluster actuates the warning buzzer or the acoustic function check for the turn signal lights (output of turn signal ticking).

Output of signals

The signals are issued over the following connections:

Interior CAN

The signals are sent by the instrument cluster over the interior CAN.

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).

Chassis CAN 2

The signals are sent by the instrument cluster via chassis CAN 2.

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
