Component Description For Multifunction Camera - GF54.21-P-3300GWM
Model 463 (except 463.342)
as of Model year 2019
Shown on Model 463
Location
The mono multifunction camera is located at the top center of the windshield behind a trim.
Tasks
The mono multifunction camera records information on the surroundings in the area to the front of the vehicle, e.g. ambient brightness, objects or traffic signs. These are evaluated by the integrated control unit, and used for implementing the following functions:
- Traffic Sign Assist
- Active Lane Keeping Assist
- Support of Active Brake Assist
- High beams assistant (with code L57 (IHC light))
This results in the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
- Transmission of signals and requests
Reading in of signals
The mono multifunction camera also reads in the following signals over the suspension FlexRay (Flex E):
- Terminal status of terminal 15
- Engine running or drive train operational.
- Wheel speed
- Vehicle speed
- Vehicle lateral and longitudinal acceleration
- Information on brake control system activities
- Information indicating driver activity, such as turn signaling, accelerating, braking, steering
- Information indicating possible distraction of the driver, such as operation of the audio system, various comfort functions (interior illumination, steering column adjustment) and various menu levels in the instrument cluster (A1) and in the head unit (A26/17)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.
Actuation of components
To avoid any fogging in the mono multifunction camera's field of view, the windshield is heated in this area by the auxiliary heater heating element (R50). The auxiliary heater heating element is directly actuated by the mono multifunction camera.
Transmission of signals and requests
The mono multifunction camera sends status information and requests over the suspension FlexRay, along with the following signals:
- Ambient brightness
- Lane data
Structure
The mono multifunction camera consists of the following main
components:
- Camera head
- Object data (object size, object type, object direction of motion, distance)
- Display traffic signs
- Haptic warning request, on steering wheel to the electric power steering control unit (N68)
- Actuate high beams assistant and perform optical headlamp range adjustment (with code L57 (IHC Light))
- Electronic analysis system (control unit)
- Auxiliary heater heating element
The mono multifunction camera must be recalibrated after replacing the multifunction camera or windshield.
