Location
The Audio/COMAND display is installed at the top center of the instrument panel.
Tasks
The Audio/COMAND display serves the uniform presentation of user-relevant operating and information windows as well as the presentation of video picture information.
The audio/COMAND display performs the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- High-speed video link (HSVL)
- Telematics CAN (CAN A)
HSVL
The Audio/COMAND display reads in the picture signals from the head unit (A26/17) over the HSVL interface.
Telematics CAN
The Audio/COMAND display also receives the following information over the telematics CAN:
- Circuit status
- Transport mode status
- Switch request on/off
- Request background illumination
- Request brightness
- Engine running status
- Status of light sensor
- Status of symbol lighting
Evaluation of input factors
The integrated microprocessor evaluates the input factors read in.
Output of signals
The Audio/COMAND display also sends the following signals over the telematics CAN:
- Display temperature signal
- Request additional fan
- Status of display
- Status of background illumination
- Brightness signal
Structure
The audio/COMAND display consists of a 12.3" HD display.
The instrument cluster (A1) and the Audio/COMAND display are installed in a common housing. It is not possible to swivel the Audio/COMAND display.
