Location
The Audio/COMAND display is installed at the top center of the instrument panel.
Tasks
The COMAND controller unit COMAND (A40/3) sends visual contents on the to the audio/COMAND display, e.g. map data, control and information data, visual media, and pictures from the reversing camera (B84/3) (with code FR8 (Reversing camera)).
The audio/COMAND display does the following here:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Telematics CAN (CAN A)
- LVDS (Low voltage differential signal)
Telematics CAN
The Audio/COMAND display receives control signals (e.g. brightness, on or off display) over the telematics CAN.
LVDS (Low voltage differential signal)
The audio/COMAND display receives all the information for displaying visual content from the COMAND controller unit over the LVDS interface.
Evaluation of input factors
The integrated microprocessor evaluates the input factors and actuates the integrated components.

The audio/COMAND display has the following properties:
- Fixed 7" display (up to production date August 31st, 2016) or fixed 8" display (as of production date September 1st, 2016)
- Resolution 800 x 480 pixels
