Location
The Audio/COMAND control panel is located on the center console between the front seats.
Tasks
The Audio/COMAND control panel is the central control for the telematics functions. The Audio/COMAND control panel can be used to operate the functions shown on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8).
The Audio/COMAND control panel receives the following signals:
- Power supply of circuit 30g and circuit 31 via a direct line
- Control data from the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) via the telematics CAN (CAN A)
The Audio/COMAND control panel sends control signals over the telematics CAN to the components of the telematics CAN
Body
The Audio/COMAND control panel includes:
- Audio/COMAND controller for navigation within menu and for selection of menu items, for control of character bar on audio/COMAND display and for navigating on the Internet
- "Back" button, to jump back a level within a menu
- "Delete" button, to delete individual characters or complete entries
- Free programming left button and free programming right button (up to production date August 31st, 2016), to skip to a menu defined by the user
- Display OFF button (as of production date September 1st, 2016), to switch the Audio/COMAND display on and off
Function
The buttons are designed as push/push buttons.
The Audio/COMAND controller can be used to control the following
operations:
- Press: Down vertically
- Turn: To left or right
- Slide: To four quadrants as well as diagonally
