	Remove/install
1	Raise vehicle.		AR00.60-P-1002LWG
		: Only lower vehicle after the leak test.
2	Release and disconnect the electrical connector (2).	Engine 654 in model 213, 238 with code 971 (Exhaust system with DPF, generation 1.5)
3	Support rear muffler (1) at the rear.

4.1	Disconnect rear muffler (1) at separating point (arrow) using a chain pipe cutter.	If there is no clamp installed. : Install a new clamp.

4.2	Remove rear muffler (1) at separating point (arrow)	If a clamp is installed. : Replace clamp.

6	Remove rear muffler (1) from the elastomer bearings (3) and remove downwards.

		Wet elastomer bearings (3) with lubricant.
		Lubricant, rubber assembly 1 l	*BR00.45-Z-1010-06A
	Clean
7	Remove combustion and corrosion residues a1 separating point (arrow).
	Check
8	Check elastomer bearings (3) for damage and wear.	If damage is identified: ↓ Replace elastomer bearings (3).

9	Remove the exhaust gas flap controller (M16/57) from the rear muffler (1).	Engine 654 in model 213, 238 with code 971 (Exhaust system with DPF, generation 1.5) When replacing rear muffler (1). Ensure exhaust gas flap is correctly positioned (arrows B). Incorrect assembly will result in damage to exhaust gas flap controller (M16/57). Ensure that springs (4) between exhaust gas flap controller (M16/57) and the exhaust gas flap are correctly seated (arrows A). Incorrect assembly will result in damage to exhaust gas flap controller (M16/57).

10	Install in the reverse order.
	Check
11	Check installation position and unobstructed movement of exhaust system.	If there are problems, ↓ Correct the installation position of the exhaust system.
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
12	Perform engine test run and check exhaust system for leak tightness.
13	Lower vehicle.		AR00.60-P-1002LWG
