Component Description For DC/DC Converter Control Unit - GF54.10-P-3006FG
Model 213 up to model year 2021 with code B01 (48V technology)
Illustration shows model 213
Location
The DC/DC converter control unit is located on the 48 V on-board electrical system battery (G1/3) in the engine compartment.
Tasks
The DC/DC converter control unit consists of an output unit and a logic section. The output unit connects the 12 V on-board electrical system to the 48 V on-board electrical system, and it enables energy to be transferred in both directions. The logic section is responsible for communication with other control units and for actuation of the output unit.
The DC/DC converter control unit is responsible for the following additional tasks:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Sending signals
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Battery sensor LIN (LIN B15)
- 48 V on-board electrical system LIN (LIN B22)
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Battery sensor LIN
The DC/DC converter control unit reads in the signals of the battery sensor (B95) via the battery sensor LIN.
48 V on-board electrical system LIN
The DC/DC converter control unit reads in the signals of the 48 V on-board electrical system battery over the 48 V LIN.
Interior CAN
The DC/DC converter control unit also reads in the following signals over the interior CAN:
- Terminal 15 status
- Engine running status
- Starter-alternator status
- Starter-alternator voltage actual value
- Starter-alternator current actual value
- Charging voltage specified value
- On-board electrical system battery voltage actual value
- Battery current switch status
- Vehicle speed
- Status of driver door (open or closed)
Evaluation of input factors
The read-in input factors are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the output unit in the DC/DC converter control unit is then actuated.
Sending signals
The DC/DC converter control unit also sends the following signals over the interior CAN:
- Operating rate of DC/DC converter
- DC/DC converter current
- Temperature of DC/DC converter
- Charge level of 48 V on-board electrical system battery
- Temperature of 48 V on-board electrical system battery
- Current of 48 V on-board electrical system battery
- Voltage of 48 V on-board electrical system battery
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
