Location
The mobile phone cradle control unit is located under the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) in the instrument panel.
Tasks
The mobile phone cradle control unit is responsible for the following:
- Power supply via circuit 30t and circuit 31 (input)
- Reception of switch-in signal from head unit (A26/17) (Input)
- Charging of smartphone batteries that support the Qi standard (with code 897 (Wireless mobile phone charging) or with code 899 (Multifunction telephony)):
- Inductive charging of smartphone battery with cooling at same time (Input, output)
- Sending charge level for smartphone battery over telematics CAN (CAN-A) to the head unit (output)
- Reception of charge level for smartphone battery through capacitive coupling with smartphone (input)
- Control signal for activation of inductive charging of smartphone battery (input)
- Smartphone connection over cellular telephone system antenna amplifier/compensator (A28/15) and the telephone antenna splitter (A2/109) to the left telephone antenna (A2/102) and the right telephone antenna (A2/103) (with code 899 (Multifunction telephony)):
- Data exchange of telephone and Internet signals over the cellular telephone system antenna amplifier/compensator (input, output)
- Data exchange of telephone and Internet signals over a capacitive coupling between smartphone and mobile phone cradle control unit (input, output)
- Data exchange with head unit over telematics CAN and over NFC interface, Near Field Communication antenna (A2/156) with NFC interface of the authorized smartphone for an easy smartphone connection with the vehicle (input, output)
- Reception of a key code for drive authorization through capacitive coupling from the smartphone and forwarding of code over telematics CAN (CAN A) to head unit (with code 896 (Vehicle access and drive authorization over mobile phone)) (input, output)
Structure
The mobile phone cradle control unit is equipped with an NFC interface for wireless data exchange and an antenna for capacitive communication. An induction loop is installed that enables wireless electrical charging of the smartphone battery.
