Mirror Taximeter, Function - GF82.25-P-2010FG
Model 213 up to model year 2021 with code 337 (Taximeter integr.in the rear-view mirror) with code 965 (Taxi/rental car - electrical pre-installation)
Function requirements, general
- Mirror taximeter (A50/1) calibrated for vehicle
If the mirror taximeter is not calibrated for the vehicle, a "No Car code" message is shown. In this case no function error exists. The message disappears after the mirror taximeter has been calibrated.
Mirror taximeter, general
The mirror taximeter determines the fare and displays this in the upper left area of the inside rear-view mirror (A67).
The mirror taximeter has a total of five modes: "Off", "Free", "Hired", "Payment" or "Intermediate shift". The mirror taximeter function consists of the following subfunctions:
- Function sequence for activating mirror taximeter (from "Off" mode to "Free" mode)
- Function sequence for determining the fare
Additional function requirements for activating mirror taximeter (from "Off" mode to "Free" mode)
- Mirror taximeter in "Free" mode (indicated by the "Tariff F" text)
- Vehicle standing still (v = 0 km/h)
Function sequence for activating mirror taximeter (from "Off" mode to "Free" mode)
The mirror taximeter is manually activated by pressing mirror taximeter button 1 (A67s4) on the inside rearview mirror. The fare is calculated as soon as the vehicle starts to move (v > 0 km/h).
If the mirror taximeter has not been manually activated and a passenger sitting on the front passenger seat is being conveyed, the special-purpose vehicle multifunction control unit (N26/9) automatically activates the mirror taximeter through the multifunction CAN (CAN K) as soon as the vehicle starts to move.
To do so, the multifunction control unit evaluates the following input factors:
- Mirror taximeter button 1 status
- Front passenger seat occupied status
- Vehicle speed
The mirror taximeter directly reads in the status of mirror taximeter button 1.
The supplemental restraint system control unit (N2/10) determines the occupation status of the front passenger seat and sends the corresponding information via user interface CAN (CAN HMI), electronic ignition lock control unit (N73), interior CAN (CAN B), multifunction control unit and multifunction CAN to the mirror taximeter.
The instrument cluster (A1) sends the vehicle speed via user interface CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit, interior CAN, multifunction control unit and multifunction CAN to the mirror taximeter. If the mirror taximeter has been activated manually or automatically ("Hired" mode), the multifunction control unit switches off the roof sign lamp (E14/4) (with code 342 (Roof sign connection for taxi)).
The roof sign lamp is switched on or off automatically only, if the "roof sign" was activated beforehand in the "Taxi" menu in the instrument cluster. Otherwise the roof sign lamp remains switched off.
The mirror taximeter is always automatically switched off if the vehicle was locked from the outside and the mirror taximeter is in "Free" mode or in "Intermediate shift" mode.
Function sequence for determining the fare
The mirror taximeter calculates the fare based on the traveled distance. The mirror taximeter calculates a specified price per kilometer traveled.
The distance traveled is defined via the wheel speed taking the tire circumference into account. The Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) sends the wheel speed via chassis FlexRay (Flex E), electronic ignition lock control unit, interior CAN, multifunction control unit and multifunction CAN to the mirror taximeter.
The fare calculation is subject to the Weights and Measures Act. The taximeter receives the prices that are valid in each case via the calibration.
If the taxi is equipped with a card reader and printer (A50/2) (accessories), the fare due can be settled by card payment and a receipt can be printed out. The taximeter sends the printout request over the multifunction CAN to the card reader and the printer.
If, at the end of a journey, a switch is made to the "Payment" mode by pressing mirror taximeter button 1, the interior illumination (IBL) is automatically switched on when it is dark outside.
The mirror taximeter sends the request "Switch on interior lights" via multifunction CAN, multifunction control unit and interior CAN to the front SAM control unit (N10/6).
The interior illumination can be manually switched off again. The "Payment" mode is terminated by pressing mirror taximeter button 1 and the system switches to the "Free" mode.
The mirror taximeter saves the following trip data:
- Trip information and driving shifts
- Stretches driven
- Processing of driving jobs
