Notes On Measuring The Drive Shaft Articulation Angle - AH41.10-P-0002-01LF
Model 117, 156, 176, 246
with Code M005 (Vehicle with 4-MATIC-/all-wheel drive)
Model 118, 177, 247
with Code M005 (vehicle with 4-MATIC-/all-wheel drive)
Model 166, 167, 292
Model 205, 206, 213, 217, 222, 223, 238, 253, 257, 290
Problems concerning drive-train vibrations or irregular acceleration may be because of a deviation of the inclination angle from the specified value.
Model 117, 156, 176, 246
with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)
Model 118, 177, 247
with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)
The engine mount and the bearing of the transmission mounting should not be in a damaged or worn state or under stress when the inclination angle is measured. Replace if necessary.
Model 166, 167, 292
The transmission mounts and exhaust system must not be stressed during the inclination angle measurement. If necessary, relieve the tension in the transmission suspension/exhaust system.
The vehicle must be on its wheels for the measurement.
Model 205, 206, 213, 217, 222, 223, 238, 253, 257, 290 The front and rear engine mount should not be damaged, worn or under stress when the inclination angle is measured. If necessary, replace corresponding engine mounts or relieve stress on them.
Measurement of the inclination angle can be performed using two different measuring instruments. The measuring instrument must have a graphic black-white display, the most up-to-date software release and a memory to store up to six inclination angles.
- Measuring instruments with graphic black-white display have been supplied since the end of 2003. When these instruments are switched on, a Romess logo appears on the display. The black and white display is larger that the old 4-line green display.
- An upgrade kit for measuring up to six articulation Measurement of the inclination angle can be performed using two angles is available for measuring instruments with a graphic black and white display which only have memory for four articulation angles.
- If using an older measuring instrument (with 4-line green display) or an instrument (with graphic display) with memory for only four articulation angles, articulation angle measurement is carried out using the inclination measurement function.
