Repair preservation
After body repairs, the cavities in the processed area must be sprayed with wax. Repair preservation must also be conducted when replacing detachable parts, e.g. fender (front), hood, doors, trunk lid along with welding, riveting and soldering work.
It is important that the wax is applied after the sealing and painting work but before the assembly operations. Otherwise paint damage can occur or installation parts can be soiled with wax. The crash box clamping area and contact surfaces in the longitudinal member must be free of wax. Preserve these only after assembling. Preservation agent must also be applied to the replacement bodyshell 2 times in succession after painting.
Replacement bodies supplied ex works with top coat are already treated with the standard cavity preservation.
The brake disks, brake linings, belt drive and propeller shafts must always be covered up.
Otherwise the brakes can fail, the propeller shafts can become imbalanced and the belt drive can malfunction.
It is essential to cover up the exhaust system.
Otherwise the cavity preservation can catch fire or emit unpleasant odors.
Cavity preservation mist in the vehicle interior must be avoided. The interior can otherwise be damaged.
Cavity preservation mist on the inside of the shock absorbers must be avoided.
Otherwise the shock absorber can be deformed.
Clean the tools after application.
Application notes
The application temperature of the wax may not be less than 15°C.
The repair preservation must always be applied 2-x in succession following a flash-off time of 5 min.
The cavities should be dry for preservation. Before starting preservation work, check spray pattern of spraying hose or spray can. The wax must spray uniformly from the openings in a circular pattern. Particularly advantageous are nozzles which spray toward the front as well as at an angle toward the rear.
The spraying hose of the hand-held lance must be "stiff". Spraying hoses that tend to roll up are not suitable.
When preserving, insert the spraying hose into the cavities in all directions as far as possible. Spray while slowly inserting and pulling out the spraying hose.
After drying, ensure that drain holes are not plugged.
Model 405.09/10/11/12/20/22
Cavity preservation is applied only to the supporting frame of the cab at the factory.
Cavity preservation is not applied to the cab because it consists of fiber composite material.
When replacing the cab, apply cavity preservation only to the supporting frame.
Model 405.05, 436.330, 437.42/43
Cavity preservation is applied to the cab at the factory.
Perform cavity preservation when replacing the cab.
