- Insert spacer blocks at undamaged side between roof paneling rear section (1) and side roof paneling and adjust dimension.
When installing roof paneling rear section (1) can be fitted with adjusted spacer blocks.
- Mark positions on vehicle and write down dimensions of spacer blocks.
- Determine dimensions between outer edge of roof paneling rear section (1) to outer edge of front and rear roof carrier.
- Mark positions of measuring points on vehicle and note dimensions.
- Expose spot welds on roof paneling rear section (1) and cut out (areas A and B).
- Cut bonding between roof paneling rear section (1) and roof frame (area E1 ).
- Heat roof paneling rear section (1) in crosshatched areas (areas D, E2
and F).
Do not exceed a temperature of 120°C.
Otherwise the structure of the adhesive areas below can change.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove roof paneling rear section (1).
- Remove remaining adhesive from body (areas H).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Coat damaged points with primer (areas H).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in crosshatched areas (areas G and K).
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G und K).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
