Information on inspecting brake pads - AH42.10-P-0004-01T

The brake pad gage (1) is suitable for measuring the:

Thickness of outer brake pads with wheels fitted. Measurement is only possible at the floating brake calipers.

4MATIC-vehicles: Measurement only possible at rear axle.

Tire tread depth. The symbols and arrows printed on identify which side of the brake pad gauge (1) should be used for the corresponding measurement.

Information on measuring thickness of outer brake pads:

Before commencing each measurement, the slide (2) must be resting against the driver (3).

Otherwise measurement errors will occur.

The test mandrel (4) must be inserted in the check bore of the lining carrier (5) so that the test mandrel (4) contacts the brake disk.

Fit the brake pad gauge (1) to the lining carrier (5).

Remove brake pad check gauge (1) and read off measured value on the slide valve (2).
