Remove/install SAM control unit with fuse and relay box in trunk - AR54.21-P-1258EA

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Carry out commissioning of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) with STAR DIAGNOSIS When replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button from electronic ignition lock control unit IMPORTANT KEYLESS-GO start/stop button only with code (889) Keyless-Go  
3 Remove trunk floor covering from trunk.    
4 Loosen cover of spare wheel well (1) until the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) is accessible    
5 Loosen clip (2) with wiring harness    
6 Unscrew nut (4)    
7 Swivel rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) upwards (arrow A) and guide out of the bracket (5) INSTALLATION NOTES Ensure that no electrical lines are pinched otherwise there is the danger that the electrical system will be damaged.  
8 Disconnect all electrical connectors and unclip fuse holder (7) from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) at the catch hooks (3). Then remove rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). NOTES The terminal 30 conducting electrical connectors (6, 8) must be disconnected first and contacted last in order to avoid short circuits.
IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors and fuse holders (7) depends on the vehicle equipment.
Unlock electrical connectors (6, 8) by pressing back the shackles using an extraction hook (arrows B, C) and disconnect.
 
SPECIAL TOOL
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The contact blade (9) must make contact fully forwards in the connector housing of the electrical connectors (6, 8).

9 Compare the components of the new rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) with those of the old rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2), if necessary adapt components to the respective vehicle equipment accordingly When replacing the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).  
10 Install in the reverse order
