Opening engine hood, moving to upright position and closing - AR88.40-P-1000EW

  Open     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, liftgates or sliding roof Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
1 Pull release lever (1) in driver's footwell to release engine hood (2)    
2 Press locking lever (3) upward and open engine hood (2) IMPORTANT Engine hood (2) is held by first stage of gas-filled struts.  
  Move to upright position     
3 Remove left and right clamping lever (6) at top on left and right engine hood hinge (4) On vehicles with CODE (U60) Pedestrian protection AR91.60-P-0920EW
4 Push engine hood (2) upward and position vertically. IMPORTANT Engine hood (2) is held by second stage of gas-filled struts.  
  Close     
5 Install left and right clamping lever (6) at top on left and right engine hood hinge (4) On vehicles with CODE (U60) Pedestrian protection
IMPORTANT Press engine hood (2) down to first stage of gas pressure struts
 
6 Close lock (5) on left and right clamping lever (6) On vehicles with CODE (U60) Pedestrian protection  
7 Close engine hood (2)    
8 Ensure that engine hood locks (2) properly
