- Remove contact protection (10).
- Unscrew nut of circuit 30 electric line (11) at starter (M1) and place circuit 30 electric line (11) to one side
- 3.1 Engine 276.823 in model 213, 238 with code M005 (4MATIC) Engine 276.823 in model 238 except code M005 (4MATIC) Unscrew nut of circuit 50 electric line (7) at starter (M1) and place circuit 50 electric line (7) to one side

- 3.2 Engine 276.853 in model 213 with code M005 (4MATIC) Unclip, release and disconnect electrical connector (9) of circuit 50 electric line (7) at starter (M1) and place it to one side.
- Connect in reverse order.
