WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove cap from the low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir.    
2 Remove lower engine compartment paneling. Engine 256.9 in model 290 AR61.20-P-1105FRX

  Drain off     
3 Remove coolant hose (2) from cooler (1) and collect escaping coolant in a suitable container.   AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
4.1 Release and disconnect coolant hoses (3) and collect escaping coolant in a suitable container. Engine 256.9 in model 213, 238, 257 AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
4.2 Remove coolant hose (7) from cooler (8) and collect escaping coolant in a suitable container. Engine 256.9 in model 290 AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
5 Unclip coolant line (5) from fan unit.    
6 Release and disconnect coolant line (5) and coolant hose (4) and collect escaping coolant in a suitable container.   AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
7 Remove coolant hose (6) from oil cooler and collect escaping coolant in a suitable container.   AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
  Pour in     
8 Attach coolant hose (6) to oil cooler.   AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
9 Connect coolant line (5) and coolant hose (4) and lock.   AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
10 Clip coolant line (5) onto cooler (8) fan unit.    
11.1 Connect coolant hoses (3) and lock. Engine 256.9 in model 213, 238, 257 AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
11.2 Attach coolant hose (7) to cooler (8). Engine 256.9 in model 290 AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
12 Attach coolant hose (2) to cooler (1).   AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
13 Add coolant and bleed low-temperature circuit.   AR20.00-P-1142-04OLC
Test pressure for pressure-testing the engine cooling system *BE20.30-P-1005-01A

INSPECT Check     
14 Check low-temperature circuit for leak tightness.   AR20.00-P-1010MSA
REMOVING Install     
15 Install lower engine compartment lining. Engine 256.9 in model 290 AR61.20-P-1105FRX

RADIATOR OR EXPANSION RESERVOIR CAP
