Remove Rear Fender Complete - Ar63.50-P-1401-01LWE

Model 213.0 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Mark separating points on rear fender (1) and cut (areas A and B).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Transfer separating point from replacement part (area A).

    Mark separating point along Y-markings (area B).

    IMPORTANT If connection is to be offset (area B), observe overlapping of approx. 10 mm.

  2. Separate adhesive bead between outer rear wheel well and rear fender (1) (area C).

    IMPORTANT The rear fender is bonded to the outer rear wheel well (1).

  3. Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) and cut out (areas D).

  4. Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) and cut out (areas E).
  5. Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area F).

  6. Heat rear fender (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  7. Heat rear fender (1) in crosshatched area.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  8. Remove rear fender (1).

  9. Remove remaining adhesive material in area of outer rear wheel well (area J).

    IMPORTANT The height of the remaining adhesive material should not exceed 2 mm. Always remove loose adhesive.

  10. Repair bare spots in area of outer rear wheel well with primer stick (area J).
  11. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on inside (area H).

    Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  12. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  13. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G and F).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
