Install Rear Fender Complete - Ar63.50-P-1401-03LWT

Model 213.2 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Install rear fender (1) and fit.
  2. Install rear bumper.
  3. Install rear lamp.
  4. Install door seal.
  5. Install striker eye.
  6. Check and adjust gap dimensions.
  7. Fix rear fender (1) in place.
  8. Remove striker eye.
  9. Remove door seal.
  10. Remove taillamp.
  11. Remove rear bumper.
  12. Drill rivet holes on rear fender (1) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area A).
  13. Drill rivet holes on rear fender (1) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area B).
  14. Countersink rivet holes on rear fender (1) (area B).
  15. Remove rear fender (1).
  16. Deburr rivet holes on rear fender (1) and body on both sides.
  17. Coat with zinc dust paint insides of those riveted joints that will not be bonded.

  18. Install suitable spacers on outer rear wheel well at uniform intervals (area E).
  19. Apply sealant to outer rear wheel well and foam parts (areas C and E).
  20. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (areas D).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  21. Install rear fender (1) and fix in place.
  22. Rivet rear fender (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivet (area I).

    IMPORTANT Clamping range 1.9 mm.

  23. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ARROW SPOT WELD (areas F).
  24. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas G).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  25. Grind inert gas weld joints down flat (areas G).
  26. Solder surfaces on rear fender (1) with body solder and smooth (areas G).

    IMPORTANT Alternatively to restorage of the surfaces with body solder, it is also possible to use a body basic spatula.

  27. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD (area H).
  28. Rivet rear fender (1) with Ø 6.4x14.0 countersunk head rivet (area J).

    IMPORTANT Clamping range 2.5 mm to 2.6 mm.

  29. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ARROW SPOT WELD (areas K).
  30. Remove solder residues and grinding dust.
