Install Rear Fender Complete - Ar63.50-P-1401-03LWE

Model 213.0 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Install rear fender (1) and fit.
  2. Install trunk lid.
  3. Install rear bumper.
  4. Install taillamp.
  5. Install door seal.
  6. Install striker eye.
  7. Check and adjust gap dimensions.
  8. Fix rear fender (1) in place.
  9. Remove striker eye.
  10. Remove door seal.
  11. Remove taillamp.
  12. Remove rear bumper.
  13. Remove trunk lid.
  14. Drill 0 6.7 mm rivet holes in rear fender (1) (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through existing holes in body (area B).

  15. Countersink rivet holes (area B).
  16. Remove rear fender (1).
  17. Deburr rivet holes on rear fender (1) and body on both sides.
  18. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint (area A).

  19. Install suitable spacers on outer rear wheel well at uniform intervals (area F).
  20. Apply sealant to outer rear wheel well and foam parts (area F and G).
  21. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (areas M and N).

    IMPORTANT Apply 2-component adhesive to inside (area N).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  22. Install rear fender (1) and fix in place.
  23. Rivet rear fender (1) with Ø 6.4x14.0 countersunk head rivet (area C).
  24. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ARROW SPOT WELD (areas D).
  25. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area E).

  26. Rivet rear fender (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivet (area H).
  27. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ARROW SPOT WELD (areas J).
  28. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas K).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  29. Grind inert gas welds down flat (areas K).
  30. Solder surfaces on rear fender (1) with body solder and smooth (areas K).

    IMPORTANT Alternatively to restorage of the surfaces with body solder, it is also possible to use a body basic spatula.
