Cut Off A-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1100-01LWE

Model 213 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Mark separating point on A-pillar paneling (5) and cut (areas A and B).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = approx. 105 mm

    b = approx. 30 mm

  2. Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (5) and cut out (areas C).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on A-pillar paneling (5) and A-pillar reinforcement must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.

  3. Heat A-pillar paneling (5) in cross-hatched area.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  4. Remove A-pillar paneling (5).

  5. Mark separating point on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut (areas D and E).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    d = approx. 110 mm

    e = approx.55 mm

  6. Expose solder seam on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut (area F).
  7. Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut out (areas N).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and A-pillar inner panel must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.

  8. Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut out (areas G).

  9. Heat A-pillar reinforcement (6) in cross-hatched areas.
  10. Remove A-pillar reinforcement (6).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  11. Mark separating point on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (area K).
  12. Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut out (areas J).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    k = approx. 45 mm

  13. Expose MIG solder seam on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (area H).
  14. Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner panel (7) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area L).
  15. Expose solder seams on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (areas I).
  16. Heat A-pillar inner panel (7) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  17. Remove A-pillar inner panel (7).

  18. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surface on inside down to bare metal (area P).

  19. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  20. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas O and P).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
