Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the terminal status of terminal 15 to the front door control units via interior CAN.

Run-on: If the terminal 15R is switched off, the rear side roller sun blinds can still be operated for 5 min. If, during the run-on time, the circuits status or the door status is changed, the run-on time starts again.

The left front door control unit transmits the status of the child safety lock to the rear door control unit via the interior CAN.

Rear side roller sun blind, general

The rear side windows can be darkened by a vertically moving roller sun blind.

The rear side roller sun blinds are driven by the respective roller sun blind motor. Each roller sun blind motor is equipped with a Hall sensor to sense its position.

IMPORTANT The function includes a soft start-up and delaying of the roller sun blind in a defined range before the corresponding mechanical stop to reduce noise and wear to the roller sun blind mechanism. This function is called "Soft stop".

The rear side roller sun blind function comprises the following subfunctions:

Function sequence for normalization

Normalizing is the basis for assigning the current position to the position of the rear side roller sun blind sensed by the corresponding rear door control unit. Normalization must be performed at the time the car is put into service and in the denormalized state.

For this purpose, the corresponding rear side roller sun blind must be fully extended and the power window and roller sun blind switch held for approx. 300 ms.

The location counter in the relevant rear door control unit is set to 0 and normalization is completed. The location counter evaluates the signals from the Hall sensor, which is integrated in the corresponding roller sun blind motor. The counter status is incremented when opening and decremented when closing the rear side roller sun blind.

Function sequence for extending/retracting rear side roller sun blind

The rear side roller sun blinds can be completely extended or retracted by pressing the power window and roller sun blind switch in the respective rear door switch group. The rear side roller sun blinds cannot be stopped in intermediate positions.

Left rear side roller sun blind:

The left rear side roller sun blind can be retracted or extended by pressing the power window and left rear roller sun blind switch in the left rear door switch group or right rear door switch group.

The left rear door control unit reads in the status of the left rear door switch group via the left rear door LIN. The right rear door control unit reads in the status of the right rear door switch group via the right rear door LIN and sends this via interior CAN to the left rear door control unit.

The left rear door control unit then actuates the left rear door roller sun blind motor and directly reads in the signals from the Hall sensor.

Right rear side roller sun blind:

The right rear side roller sun blind can be retracted or extended by pressing the power window and right rear roller sun blind switch in the right rear door switch group or left rear door switch group.

The right rear door control unit reads in the status of the right rear door switch group via the right rear door LIN. The left rear door control unit reads in the status of the left rear door switch group via the left rear door LIN and sends this via interior CAN to the right rear door control unit.

The right rear door control unit then actuates the right rear door roller sun blind motor and directly reads in the signals from the Hall sensor.

Additional function requirements for excess force limiter

Function sequence for excess force limiter

The excess force limiter function is active while the corresponding rear side roller sun blind is extending. The respective rear door control unit uses the power consumption of the roller sun blind motor as a reference for excess force.

If the power consumption exceeds a certain limit value, actuation of the respective roller sun blind motor is stopped and the rear side roller sun blind is then fully retracted.

Additional function requirements for lock-up reversing

Function sequence for lockup reversing

The lockup reversing function is active while the corresponding rear side roller sun blind is extending. Lockup is detected if the Hall sensor signals are missing for a preprogrammed time while the rear side roller sun blind is extending.

The respective rear door control unit reads in the signals of the Hall sensor directly and evaluates them. If lockup is detected, actuation of the respective roller sun blind motor is stopped and the rear roller sun blind is then fully retracted.
