Remove Longitudinal Member Outer Shell On Entrance - Ar63.30-P-1102-01LWE

Model 213 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

    1. Model 213.0/1

      Mark separating points on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut according to damage (area A), (areas A and B), (areas A and C), (areas B and C) or (area C).

      NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

      Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

      IMPORTANT Mark separating point along Y-marking (areas B and C).

      IMPORTANT Dimensions:

      a 27 mm

    2. Model 213.2

      Mark separating points on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut according to damage (area A), (areas A and B), (areas A and C), (areas B and C) or (area C1 ).

      NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

      Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

      IMPORTANT Mark separating point along Y-marking (area BA).

      a 27 mm

      c = 40 mm

      Dimension (c) is measured from Y-marking in area (C).

  1. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut out (areas D, D, and E).

    IMPORTANT Cut out through two panel thicknesses (areas D).

  2. Heat section (2) in crosshatched area.

    IMPORTANT Crosshatched area is bonded.

  3. Remove section (2).

  4. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut out (areas F and Fi).

    IMPORTANT Cut out through two panel thicknesses (area F1 ).

  5. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut out (areas G and G1 ).

  6. Expose spot weld and cut out (area H).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds from inside through opening in A-pillar (area H).

  7. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area J).

  8. Heat longitudinal member outer shell in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  9. Remove longitudinal member outer shell.

  10. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  11. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  12. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas K).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  13. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in crosshatched area from inside.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surface with zinc dust paint.

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe preliminary treatment of bonding surface.
