Partially Install Side Longitudinal Member Paneling - Ar63.30-P-1040-03LWE

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Install longitudinal member paneling (1), fit and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes in longitudinal member paneling (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas A and B).
- Countersink rivet holes (area B).
- Remove longitudinal member paneling (1).
- Drill rivet holes in crossmember (1) and deburr on body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
- Apply sealant to foam parts in crosshatched areas.
- Install longitudinal member paneling (1) and fix in place.
- Rivet longitudinal member paneling (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivets (area C).
- Rivet longitudinal member paneling (1) with Ø 6.4x14.0 countersunk head blind rivets (area D).
- Rivet longitudinal member paneling (1) with Ø 6.4x15.5 countersunk head blind rivets (area E).
- Longitudinal member paneling (1)
(areas F).
- Longitudinal member paneling (1)
(areas G).
Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.
- Grind inert gas welds down flat.
- Clean weld joints.
- Solder surfaces on side longitudinal member panel (1) in area of inert gas welds with body solder and smooth.
Alternatively to restorage of the surfaces with body solder, it is also possible to use a body basic spatula.
