Cut Off B-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1350-05LWE
Model 213
The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Mark separations on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (areas A, B and C).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (areas D).
Joint spot welds in B-pillar paneling (1) and B-pillar reinforcement must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.
Dimensions:
a = approx. 30 mm
b = approx. 35 mm
c1 = approx. 15 mm
c2 = approx. 20 mm
c3 = approx. 40 mm
- Heat B-pillar paneling (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove B-pillar paneling (1).
- Mark separating points on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (areas E and F).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Mark separating points on Y-marking on longitudinal member outer shell.
- Expose inert gas welds on inner B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (areas G).
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas H and J).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (area J).
- Heat B-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove B-pillar reinforcement (2).
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas K).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
