Fanfare Horn System, Function - GF54.35-P-0001FQ

MODEL 218

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The circuit status is sent by the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) over the chassis CAN (CAN E) to the steering column tube module control unit (N80).

Fanfare horns, general

The left fanfare horn (H2) and the right fanfare horn (H2/1) represent the audible warning system of the motor vehicle. The fanfare horns are used in dangerous situations to warn other road users with a uniform and constant signal tone.

Fanfare horns function sequence

The fanfare horns are requested by pressing the left fanfare horn button (S110s5) or the right fanfare horn button (S111s5).

The status of each fanfare horn button is read in by the steering wheel electronics (N135) and sent over the steering LIN (LIN E1) to the steering column tube module control unit. The steering column tube module control unit sends the "Wash" request over the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). The front SAM control unit actuates the fanfare horn relay (N10/1kO).

The fanfare horns relay consequently switches the power supply (circuit 30) to the fanfare horns.

The signal tone sounds for as long as one of the horn buttons is actuated.

IMPORTANT The fanfare horns are actuated when start-off assist ("HOLD" function) is active and the driver door is opened at the same time. The driver is warned that the start-off assist function does not replace the electric parking brake and also should not be used to park.

Detailed information about the start off assist function can be found in the separate function description "Adaptive Brake (ABR)".

IMPORTANT Central locking system acoustic feedback:

If the acoustic feedback function has been activated, acoustic feedback is emitted in the form of a brief horn actuation after locking or unlocking the vehicle.

Detailed information on the central locking system acoustic feedback is available in the separate function description for "Central locking (CL)".

IMPORTANT Vehicles with code (551) Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) and code (494) USA version:

The acoustic alarm of the antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) is issued through the horns.

Detailed information on the acoustic alarm of the antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) is available in the separate function description "Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW])".
