Component Description For Reversing Camera Control Unit - GF54.65-P-5030RFM
Model 205, 253 (except 253.99)
with code 218 (Rear view camera)
except code 235 (Parking Pilot with PARKTRONIC)
Shown on model 205.0 up to 01.03.2018
Shown on model 205.3 up to 01.03.2018
Location
The reversing camera control unit is located above the license plate number, in the handle strip of the trunk lid (model 205.0/1) or in the handle strip of the liftgate (model 205.2, model 253.1/9) or at the center behind the brand emblem (model 205.3/4, model 253.3).
Tasks
The reversing camera control unit has the following tasks:
- Recording area to the rear of the vehicle
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals
Recording area to the rear of the vehicle
The reversing camera control unit is an optical parking aid. Its tasks include a surrounding field recording of the rear area, the generation of dynamic guide lines and the sending of the video picture to the head unit (A26/17). The pictures recorded by the reversing camera are processed accordingly and electronically corrected for distortion by the integrated control unit to be shown in the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8). The reversing camera is supplied with power by the rear SAM control unit (N10/8).
The reversing camera is automatically calibrated by the integrated control unit.
Reading in of signals
The reversing camera control unit reads in, among other things, the following information via the user interface CAN (CAN HMI):
- Terminal status of terminal 15
- Reverse gear status
- Service mode request
- Displayed vehicle speed
- Steering wheel angle
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor whereupon the relevant signals are then issued.
Output of signals
The signals are issued through the following connections:
- Direct line
- User interface CAN
Direct line
The reversing camera control unit sends the image data via a HSVL line (High-Speed Video Link) to the head unit.
User interface CAN
The reversing camera control unit sends, among other things, the following signals via the user interface CAN:
- Request for picture output in Audio/COMAND display
- Request to open/close rear camera cover
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see the appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Structure
The reversing camera control unit is a color picture camera with a wide-angle lens (angle of vision ∠ > 130°) and integrated control unit.
