Model all (CAR)
with code 876 (ambient lighting)
Model all (CAR)
with code 877 (Ambient lighting)
Overview:
This document contains information on:
- Ambiance illumination
- Exit warning activation
- ATA alarm activation
- Activation after an accident
- Activation during charging process (for electric vehicles; for hybrid vehicles depending on model)
General
Ambient lighting enables the atmosphere in the vehicle interior to be adapted through corresponding lighting. To do so, it illuminates different areas of the vehicle interior directly or indirectly.
Depending on the model, the ambient lighting is controlled by the ambient lighting control unit or the front signal acquisition and actuation module. The LEDs installed for the ambient lighting can be actuated in up to 64 different colors.
Function requirements
- Circuit 30t
- No overvoltage or undervoltage
- Ambient lighting switched on through the multimedia system
Ambiance illumination
The ambient lighting switches on after the following events:
- Unlocking of vehicle (except via the emergency key)
- Circuit 15R on
The ambient lighting switches off after the following events:
- 10 s after locking the vehicle (dimmed)
- 20 s after circuit 15 R OFF
The ambient lighting actuates the door handle lighting after switching off circuit 15R ON, as long as the comfort switch lighting is active.
Depending on the model and equipment installed ambient lighting can include the following lamps:
- Ambient lighting on the cockpit
- Ambient lighting on air vents
- Ambient lighting in the doors, door handles and door stowage compartments
- Ambient lighting on display
- Ambient lighting of trim pieces on seat
- Ambient lighting on head restraints
- Ambient lighting in the footwell at front and rear
- Ambient lighting on center console
- Ambient lighting on panoramic sliding sunroof
- Ambient lighting on rear display
- Ambient lighting behind rear seats
The user can the following settings for the ambient lighting via the multimedia system, for instance:
- Brightness
- Color
- Multicolored illumination (selection of preset color combinations)
- Multicolored animation (preset with animated color combinations)
- Locator lighting (special presentation when unlocking vehicle)
- Climate dependence (brief color change when temperature setting changed)
- Dependence on instrument cluster display style
The brightness settings can be made for different zones.
Exit warning activation
If Blind Spot Monitoring detects a hazard when opening the door, the ambient lighting flashes on and off in the corresponding door as part of the warning strategy.
ATA alarm activation
The ambient lighting flashes blue and red during an ATA alarm.
Activation after an accident
The ambient lighting lights up red with full brightness after an accident.
Activation during charging process (for electric vehicles; for hybrid vehicles depending on model)
The ambient lighting lights up at the start a charging process. The lighting in the vehicle interior is based on the condition of the LED on the charger feed socket.
