Front axle transmission 4MATIC, general

The front axle transmission is designed as a single-speed differential with fuel-efficient technology (fuel economy). The housing of the front axle transmission is made of aluminum and bolted to the oil pan by means of a carrier (7). The drive pinion (2) is at an angle of 83° to the ring gear (3) so as to adjust the angular course of the propeller shaft relative to the front axle transmission. The ring gear (3) is attached on the engine side and bolted to the differential cage of the differential (4). This location of components of the front axle transmission causes the change in direction of rotation, which occurs due to the single-speed output in the transfer case, to reverse again.
