General 

The multimedia system control provides a user interface for the multimedia system in the media display. For this, the multimedia system control evaluates the inputs of the multimedia system's control elements. Depending on the equipment installed, the multimedia system control provides the following functions:

• Navigation
• Radio
• Media mode
• TV
• Telephone
• Smartphone integration
• Vehicle settings
• Digital Owner's Manual

Depending on the equipment installed, one of the following control units executes the functions of the multimedia system:

• Head unit control unit
• Head unit/instrument cluster control unit

Operation and display of the multimedia system 

The following control elements are, depending on the model and equipment, available for operating the multimedia system:

• Multimedia system button group on the multifunction steering wheel
• Touchpad/lower control panel in center console
• Upper control panel
• Media display (touchscreen function)
• Voice control
• Gesture recognition system

The multimedia system control evaluates the operation signals and performs the appropriate adjustments. The user interface for the multimedia system control is shown in the media display in the head unit/instrument cluster display cluster.

The media display is available in different sizes depending on the equipment and model.

Depending on the equipment, selected functions of the multimedia system can also be operated using control elements in the rear passenger compartment.
