Two-way radio hands-free system, general
The two-way radio hands-free system allows the driver to communicate, e.g. with the taxi dispatch, via the two-way radio (A49) (accessories) or the radio data transceiver (A49/5) (accessories).
Active audio sources are automatically muted during the two-way radio call.
The two-way radio is located in the glove compartment (with CODE 334 (Two-way radio bracket in glove compartment)). The radio data transceiver is located in the spare wheel well in the trunk (with CODE 335 (Two-way radio bracket in trunk)).
It is also possible to mount an operating unit to the accessories mounting console (with CODE 333 (Taxi accessories mounting console)).
Function sequence for two-way radio hands-free system
Pressing the two-way radio cut-in switch (S93/2) switches the two-way radio or the radio data transceiver to the transmit mode. The driver can set up a radio connection. While speaking, the two-way radio actuation switch must remain pressed. Voice communication is recorded by the taxi radio microphone (B25/10), which is located on the inside rearview mirror (A67).
As soon as the two-way radio cut-in switch is released, voice output from the conversational partner is issued through the taxi radio speaker (H6).
The special-purpose vehicle multifunction control unit (N26/9) reads in the status of the two-way radio cut-in switch directly and sends it over the multifunction CAN (CAN K) to the two-way radio or the radio data transceiver.
The two-way radio or the radio data transceiver reads in the voice output from the taxi radio microphone directly and sends this over the radio roof antenna (A28/9) to the conversational partner.
Incoming radio signals are received by the radio roof antenna, processed by the two-way radio or the radio data transceiver and issued through the taxi radio speaker.
With active two-way radio cut-in, a corresponding symbol is shown in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1). Active audio sources are muted. To do so, the multifunction control unit sends the "Two-way radio cut-in active" signal over the interior CAN (CAN B), electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and the user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster and to the head unit (A26/17). The instrument cluster actuates the display in the multifunction display. The head unit mutes active audio sources.
