Taximeter, Function - GF82.25-P-2015RF

MODEL 205

with CODE 336 (Taximeter console in OCP)

with CODE 965 (Electrical preinstallation for taxi and rental car)

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT If the taximeter is not calibrated for the vehicle, a "No Car code" message is shown. In this case no function error exists. The message is extinguished when the taximeter is calibrated.

Taximeter in general

The taximeter determines the fare and shows this on the taximeter display.

The taximeter function consists of the following subfunctions:

Additional function requirements for activating taximeter

Function sequence for activating taximeter

The taximeter is activated by pressing the button on the taximeter. Calculation of the fare is then started.

If the taximeter has not been manually activated, but a passenger sitting on the front passenger seat is being conveyed, the special-purpose vehicle multifunction control unit (N26/9) automatically activates the taximeter via multifunction CAN (CAN K), as soon as the vehicle starts to move (v > 0 km/h).

To do so, the multifunction control unit evaluates the following input factors:

The taximeter reads in the status of the button on the taximeter directly, and sends this over the multifunction CAN to the multifunction control unit.

The Supplemental Restraint System control unit (N2/10) evaluates the front passenger seat occupied status and sends corresponding information over the user interface CAN (CAN HMI), electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and the interior CAN (CAN B) to the multifunction control unit.

IMPORTANT Detailed information on the front passenger seat occupied recognition is available in the separate function description "Supplemental restraint system, function".

The instrument cluster (A1) sends the vehicle speed over the user interface CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and the interior CAN to the multifunction control unit.

If the taximeter has been activated (manually or automatically), the multifunction control unit switches off the roof sign lamp (E14/4) (with CODE 342 (CONNECTION FOR TAXI ROOF SIGN)).

IMPORTANT The roof sign lamp is switched on or off automatically only, if the "roof sign" was activated beforehand in the "Taxi" menu in the instrument cluster.

IMPORTANT As standard, the taximeter is automatically switched off after t = 30 minutes if the vehicle was locked from the outside and the taximeter is in "Free" status or in "Intermediate shift" status.

Function sequence for determining the fare

The taximeter uses the distance traveled as the basis for calculating the fare.

The distance traveled is defined via the wheel speed, which is recorded by the left front axle RPM sensor (L6/1). The Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) reads in the signals from the left front axle RPM sensor and sends them over the chassis FlexRay (Flex E), electronic ignition lock control unit, interior CAN, multifunction control unit and the multifunction CAN to the taximeter.

IMPORTANT The fare calculation is subject to the Weights and Measures Act. If the taxi is equipped with a card reader and printer (A50/2) (accessories), the fare due can be settled by card payment and a receipt can be printed out. The mirror taximeter sends the printout request over the multifunction CAN to the card reader and the printer.

If, at the end of a journey, a switch is made to the Payment mode by pressing taximeter button, the interior illumination (IBL) is automatically switched on when it is dark outside.

The multifunction control unit sends the request "Switch on interior lights" over the interior CAN to the front SAM control unit (N10/6).

The interior illumination can be manually switched off again. The Payment mode is terminated by pressing the button on the taximeter whereupon the system switches to the "Free" status.

IMPORTANT Detailed information on the actuation of individual components of the interior illumination can be found in the separate function description "Interior illumination, function".

The taximeter saves the following trip data:

IMPORTANT Detailed information is available in the separate supplementary instructions for the taximeter.
