REPAIR MATERIALS

IMPORTANT All tools required for the repair are to be taken from the SPECIAL TOOL flanging tool kit.

IMPORTANT Brake lines with dia. 4.75 are flanged without peeling and making first-stage flange.

Brake lines with dia. 4.95 and dia. 5.25 must be peeled and a first-stage flange made.

  1. Clamp brake line in line holding pliers (1) so that the end to be worked on protrudes approx.

    50 mm (dimension x).

    Only for brake lines with dia.

    4.95 and dia. 5.25.

  2. Clamp step drill bit (2) into a commercially available cordless drill/driver.

    Only for brake lines with dia.

    4.95 and dia. 5.25.

  3. Operate cordless drill/driver and press step drill bit (2) on brake line up to contact.

    Only for brake lines with dia.

    4.95 and dia. 5.25.

    IMPORTANT In this way, the plastic coating in the flaring area is removed.

    Clean the step drill bit (2) if soiling is present. Otherwise, the entire insertion depth in the step drill bit (2) is no longer guaranteed for the next step drill procedure.

  4. Insert clamping brackets (7) assigned to brake line diameter into flanging tool kit (3).

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION The clamping brackets (7) are held magnetically in position in the flanging tool (3).

  5. Close latch (12) in flanging tool.
  6. Insert brake line (10) into the flanging tool with the end to be worked on up to the end stop on the latch (12).
  7. Tighten tensioning screws (9) of clamping plate (8) uniformly in stages. TORQUE SPECIFICATION
  8. Mark position of brake line (10), as shown (arrow A), with a pen relative to the clamping brackets (7).

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION In this way, you can see if the brake line (10) is not held correctly in the clamping brackets (7).

  9. Open latch (12).

  10. Insert punch "A" (5) into the punch holder (6) and fix in place with the locking clip (11) in the area of the hexagon.
  11. Clean punch holder (6).
  12. Clean punch "A" (5) in front area (arrow B).
  13. Coat punch "A" (5) in front area (arrow B) and end of brake line to be worked on with ATE brake cylinder paste.

  14. Screw punch holder (6) with punch "A" (5) into the flanging tool (3) so that the top of punch "A" (5) lightly contacts the brake line (10).
  15. By slowly screwing in the punch holder (6) with the predetermined tightening torque, make the first-stage flange of the brake line (10). TORQUE SPECIFICATION
  16. Remove punch holder (6) from flanging tool (3).

  17. Remove locking clip (11) and take punch "A" out of punch holder (6).
  18. Insert punch "B" (4) into the punch holder (6) and fix in place with the locking clip (11) in the area of the hexagon.
  19. Clean punch holder (6).
  20. Clean punch "B" (4) in front area (arrow C).
  21. Coat punch "B" (4) in front area (arrow C) and end of brake line to be worked on with ATE brake cylinder paste.

  22. Screw punch holder (6) with punch "B" (4) into the flanging tool (3) so that the top of punch "B" (4) lightly contacts the brake line (10).
  23. By slowly screwing in the punch holder (6) with the predetermined tightening torque, make the second-stage flange of the brake line (10). TORQUE SPECIFICATION
  24. Remove punch holder (6) from flanging tool (3).
  25. Release tensioning screws (9) uniformly until the brake line (10) with the clamping brackets (7) can be taken from the flanging tool (3).
  26. Release clamping brackets (7) from the finished, flanged brake line (10) and remove.
