1	Open both front doors
2	Insert 6 mm Allen wrench through rear lining into emergency opening valve (1)	A corresponding slot is present behind the pocket (2) in the rear wall lining through which the emergency opening valve (1) is accessible.
3	Open emergency opening valve (1)	Open emergency opening valve (1) max. 2 turns. Otherwise the Vario roof control hydraulic unit can be damaged.
4	Pull trunk lid (5) upward on handle recess (3) with both hands until tubular frame (4) is released	When pulling up, it is necessary to overcome a perceptible resistance.
5	Install trunk lid (5) together with tubular frame (4) completely toward rear in direction of arrow (arrow A)	Pull trunk lid (5) toward rear and simultaneously upward on handle recess (3). Tubular frame (4) can be damaged.
6	Actuate rear shelf main flap (6) with emergency actuation and install rear shelf main flap (6)		AR77.30-P-6347-01W
	Wiring harness for emergency actuation of rear shelf		WF58.50-P-7730-02W
7	Lift lowered Vario roof out of trunk at both C-pillars (7) with aid of helper and fold toward front until front locks (8) run into mounts (9)	Both front doors just be open.
8	Fold trunk lid (5) together with tubular frame (4) toward front	Trunk lid lock is locked in lock striker on tubular frame (4).
9	Unlock trunk lid lock with emergency key and open trunk lid (5)
10	Open trunk partition (18), detach left and right side trunk paneling (10) in rear area until left and right trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (11) is accessible	For this purpose remove expansion rivet (12) and spacers (13) on left and right mount (14) and open left and right brush frame (15).
11	Remove both trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinders (11) from tubular frame (4). Lift retainer (16) with suitable screwdriver and simultaneously unclip hydraulic cylinder for trunk lid actuation (11) from tubular frame (4) with suitable screwdriver	Do not remove retainer (16). Otherwise the tension of the retainer (16) can be lost. Carefully unclip hydraulic cylinder for trunk lid actuation (11). Otherwise the piston rods on the trunk lid actuation hydraulic cylinder (11) can be damaged.
12	Position the hydraulic cylinders for trunk lid actuation (11) in the wheelhouses in such a way that they cannot damage surrounding components
13	Position side luggage compartment lining (10) at installation location, install expansion rivet (12) and spacers (13) at left and right mount (14)
14	Close trunk partition (18)
15	Close trunk lid (5) and lock trunk lid lock
16	Simultaneously press trunk lid (5) towards front and rear in lower area of license plate recess until the tubular frame (4) arrests	When pressing down, it is necessary to overcome a perceptible resistance.
17	Remove Vario roof front section paneling (19)
18	Lock both front locks (8) by hand in direction of arrow (arrow B) and then lock completely with suitable pliers	Do not position pliers at piston rods on front lock hydraulic cylinder (20). Otherwise the front lock hydraulic cylinders (20) can be damaged. The front locks (8) are locked completely when a clicking sound is audible from the left Vario roof locked limit switch (S69/5s1) and right Vario roof locked limit switch (S69/5s2).
19	Push Vario roof down at transition between C-pillars (7) and Vario roof front section (17) (arrow C)	On left and right side of vehicle. This completely arrests the C-pillar locks.
20	Close emergency opening valve (1)	Emergency operation valve at hydraulic unit	*BA77.37-P-1001-01A
21.1	Completely close both side windows with power window central operating switch (S84s2)	If side windows can be actuated via power window central operating switch (S84s2).
21.2	Connect diagnostic system and completely close both side windows with diagnostic system	If side windows can be actuated via power window central operating switch (S84s2).
	Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory		AD00.00-P-2000-04A
21.3	Perform emergency actuation for side window and close side window completely	If the side windows cannot be actuated with the power window central operating switch (S84s2) or diagnostic system due to a defect of the vario roof control unit. Open rear side widows with emergency operation feature	AR67.39-P-4190W

22	Pull electrical fuses 39 and 41 out of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module	This prevents the emergency-closed Vario roof from being unintentionally actuated.
23	Install Vario roof front section paneling (19)
