	Remove/install
1	Open engine hood
2	Disconnect electrical connection (12)	MODEL 231 without CODE 487 (Active Body Control (ABC))
3	Remove front wheel
			AP40.10-P-4050EW
4.1	Relieve pressure in ABC system using the bleed screws	MODEL 231.### ## up to 021273 with CODE 487 (Active Body Control (ABC))	AR32.50-P-0001-01N
		Bleed screw on soldered fitting in hydraulic line	*BA32.50-P-1001-02B
4.2	Release pressure in ABC system using Star Diagnosis	MODEL 231.### ## as of 021274 with CODE 487 (Active Body Control (ABC))

6	Release ABC line (8) on longitudinal member	MODEL 231 with CODE 487 (Active Body Control (ABC))
7	Disconnect quick-release coupling (9) of hydraulic line	MODEL 231 with CODE 487 (Active Body Control (ABC)) Make sure that no dirt enters the open quick- release coupling (9). This can result in failure of the ABC system. Make sure that the quick- release coupling (9) engages completely. Detaching tool	Figure

9	Unscrew nut (5) and remove screw/bolt (3)	The screw/bolt (3) for suspension strut (1) on spring control arm (2) must only be inserted from the back to the front and tightened. Nut, suspension strut for front axle to spring control arm	*BA32.25-P-1002-04N
10.1	Turn steering to full left lock	When removing on the left-hand side.
10.2	Turn steering to full right lock	When removing on the right-hand side.
11	Unscrew nuts (11)	Nut, suspension strut to front axle on body	*BA32.25-P-1001-04N
12	Detach steering knuckle (4) from top transverse control arm	MODEL 231 with CODE 487 (Active Body Control (ABC))
13	Press steering knuckle (4) downward and remove suspension strut (1) downward	Do not damage boot of suspension strut (1).
14	Install in the reverse order
15	Turn wheels to full left and right locks	After installing the suspension struts, turn wheels to full left and right locks with axle at full rebound. This ensures correct alignment of the suspension struts.
16	Fill and bleed ABC system	MODEL 231 with CODE 487 (Active Body Control (ABC))	AR32.50-P-0021SX
17	Calibration of stroke of suspension struts	Whenever a suspension strut is replaced, calibration using Star Diagnosis must be performed in the menu "Control units - Adaptation/Tech-in processes".	AR40.20-P-0301RK
