DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot contemporary. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

  Drain off     
1 Unscrew cap (2) from coolant expansion reservoir (4) IMPORTANT Turn cap (2) slowly and release overpressure, then unscrew cap (2).  
2 Remove lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105RK
3 Push drain hose (3) onto left fitting (3a) on radiator (6)    
4 Open drain screw (7) at radiator (6) and drain coolant IMPORTANT Observe regulations to dispose of coolant.  
5 Empty low-temperature water circuit Engine 157, 278 in model 231
IMPORTANT To do this switch on ignition for 5 seconds. Repeat this procedure twice after a waiting time of about 30 s in order to empty the low- temperature water circuit.
 
6 Loosen drain screw on coolant pump (5) Engine 276 in model 231
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Drain screw on coolant pump
*BA20.10-P-1008-01AA 
7 Push drain hose (3) onto drain screw on coolant pump (5) Engine 276 in model 231  
8 Open drain screw on coolant pump (5) and drain coolant Engine 276 in model 231  
  Pour in     
9 Tighten drain screw (7) on cooler (6) and detach drain hose (3) from fitting (3a)    
10 Tighten drain screw at coolant pump (5) and detach drain hose (3) from fitting Engine 276 in model 231  
11 Pour in coolant and bleed cooling system IMPORTANT Re-use clean coolant. AR20.00-P-1142-04A

12 Bleed low-temperature water circuit IMPORTANT To do this switch on ignition for 5 seconds. Repeat this procedure twice after a waiting time of about 30 s in order to fill the low-temperature water circuit and to bleed it.  
13 Check cooling system for leaktightness   AR20.00-P-1010RK 
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
14 Perform an engine test run and check cooling system for proper operation
